Raiders LG Gene Upshaw named 55th-best player of all-time by USA Today

With 2019 being the 100th season of the NFL, USA Today has named the top-100 player in its league’s history. There have been several Raiders’ players on the list, including most recently defensive back Charles Woodson at No. 61.

USA Today recently revealed No. 59-50, and coming at No. 55 is Raiders’ Hall of Fame guard Gene Upshaw.

Upshaw started 207 games for the Raiders, making seven Pro Bowls and was named to the All-Pro team five times. Whenever anyone discusses the greatest offensive linemen, specifically guards, Upshaw has to be mentioned in the conversation.

There will undoubtedly be more Raiders’ players on this list, but Upshaw coming in at No. 55 feels slightly low. He is one of the best players in team history and is arguably the best guard the league has ever seen.
