Raiders LB Vontaze Burfict suspended for rest of season

The Oakland Raiders will be without their starting middle linebacker for the rest of the year after the league announced that Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for repeated violations of the rules on unnecessary roughness.

Burfict was ejected from Sunday’s game due to a flagrant blow to the head of Colts tight end Jack Doyle. Burfict was flagged and ejected for the hit.

Without Burfict, the team will turn to Tahir Whitehead and Nicolas Morrow to replace him in the starting lineup. It also wouldn’t be a shock to see the team make a move for a proven linebacker to fill the void during the season.

As for Burfict, it’s fair to wonder if this is the last time we will see him in the NFL. He’s clearly a player that can’t help himself when it comes to dirty hits, and his play has started to decline. Burfict will become a free agent after this season.
