For years, the linebacker position has haunted the Raiders. They’ve struggled to find even adequate play at the position, often opting for aging veterans to fill the void.
However, the Raiders made it a point this offseason to bring in a long-term solution and they did so by signing the best linebacker on the market; Cory Littleton.
Littleton has proven to be one of the league’s best coverage linebackers as he is fantastic in zone coverage. But an underrated part of his game has been his tackling ability. According to Pro Football Focus, Littleton missed just one tackle in 2019 despite playing well over 1,000 snaps.
With the Raiders adding Littleton to their defense, they finally have a Pro Bowl-caliber linebacker on their roster. He will instantly make their defense faster and way more consistent from snap to snap given his reliability in coverage and in the open field. Look for Littleton to transform the Raiders’ defense this season.
