Raiders grab Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts in latest Dane Brugler mock

One of the biggest winners of the NFL Combine was Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts, who tested as the most athletic quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. His athletic testing put him in the 95th percentile in SPARQ among all quarterbacks in the NFL, according to 3sigmaathlete.com.

While there are still overall questions about Hurts’ arm and his processing speed, his athleticism will likely get him draft sometime on Day 2. In Dane Brugler’s latest mock draft at The Athletic, he had the Raiders selecting Hurts at the bottom of the third round.

It’s clear that the Raiders want to upgrade their backup quarterback situation this offseason, and Hurts is a potential option. While he doesn’t necessarily fit the West Coast offense, Gruden would have to change his offense to suit his skill set.

But at that point in the draft, Hurts would be a worthwhile gamble as the sixth or seventh quarterback drafted. Given his production, leadership, and athleticism, he certainly could be on the Raiders’ radar come April.
