Raiders GM Mike Mayock looking for more draft picks on Day 2

After the top 15 or so picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, there isn’t a big difference in picks No. 16 to No. 60. That’s why the Raiders are set up well with having three picks between No. 24 and No. 35.

With some luck, Oakland should be able to leave the draft with four starters in the first two days.

However, general manager Mike Mayock knows just how valuable those picks are. In his pre-draft press conference, Mayock told the media that he would love to add some more picks during the first two days of the draft:

“You just heard me say how much I love (picks) 20 to 60,” he said. “I’d love to get a couple more picks in there. I just think we have a lot of holes that need to be filled. I think that’s a really good place to go fishing.”

With the trade of Antonio Brown, the Raiders will have a big gap between picks. Currently, the team doesn’t own a selection between No. 36 and No. 107. With the depth of this draft, expect that to change as Mayock knows how good the talent is between those picks.

Expect Oakland to make a few moves to acquire some Day 2 picks and to do so with a trade down in the first round.
