Raiders get Keelan Doss back with a second attempt

After swinging and missing with their first attempt, the Oakland Raiders remained persistent and finally got receiver Keelan Doss back. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the rookie is heading back home after the Raiders offered him a $300k signing bonus and a fully guaranteed $495k base salary.

As most are aware, Doss, one of the stars of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” signed with the Jags a week ago as a member of their practice squad. After the whole debacle with receiver Antonio Brown went down, the Raiders tried to bring him back Saturday, however, the Jags upped his salary to the rookie minimum of 495k. Evidently, that wasn’t enough as the Raiders looped around with another counter offer, which includes the aforementioned signing bonus of $300k.

With Julio Jones making history for the Atlanta Falcons by being their first player with a full-guaranteed contract, and teams now having bidding wars for undrafted players, it certainly seems like the arrow is pointing up for players on every end of the spectrum to get more money. As for Doss, it will be interesting to watch him reunite with Jon Gruden, who raved about the youngster all throughout training camp.
