Raiders finish 29th in latest Touchdown Wire power rankings

We are just days away from the Oakland Raiders taking the field against the Denver Broncos to kick off their 2019 season. However, many aren’t optimistic that the Raiders have improved much over the offseason.

In a recent article by Doug Farrar of the Touchdown Wire, he ranked all of the teams in the NFL ahead of Week 1. Oakland finished 29th in Farrar’s power rankings, just ahead of the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Texans. Take a look at Farrar’s thoughts on the Raiders heading into the season:

We’re all waiting to see just when Antonio Brown will resolve his various equipment disputes and find the field again–and if these delay tactics are representative of a player who may not be all in. If Brown isn’t, this could be a season of frustration for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock. It’s already been a season of distraction, and the season hasn’t even started yet.

Farrar also mentions the impressive play of the Raiders’ young rookies in his piece, but he doesn’t appear optimistic that Brown, Gruden, and Mayock will be able to get along for a full season. Considering the egos of all three, it’s certainly not out of the range of possibilities.

However, don’t be surprised if the Raiders shock the world and get off to a hot start in 2019. They should rise up power ranking list such as this in no time.
