Raiders finish 27th in recent Touchdown Wire power ranking list

Despite starting the season 1-1, not many are excited about the Raiders’ chances of competing this season. The general consensus is that Oakland is still one of the worst teams in the league and could be vying for a top-five pick by the end of the season.

In a recent article by Doug Farrar of the Touchdown Wire, he released his newest power rankings list after Week 2 of the NFL season. Not surprisingly, the Raiders finished 27th after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Here is a snippet of that article via Farrar:

There are reasons to be excited about this team’s development on both sides of the ball, but this schedule could have Gruden thinking about the 2020 draft by early October.

While Farrar is down on Oakland this season, the situation feels much different this year than in 2018. The Raiders are trying to win games in 2019. They aren’t tanking, and they aren’t going to trade away key assets mid-season. This is a franchise that is ready to take the next step.

While they had a rough performance against Kansas City, the Chiefs can do that to most teams. Oakland should be much more competitive this season than what they were in 2018. Look for the Raiders to rise up power ranking lists as we get deeper into the season.
