Raiders DT Eddie Vanderdoes suffers concussion, will miss Monday practice

In order for the Raiders’ defense to make a big jump in 2019, they will need multiple defenders, especially on the defensive line, to have career years. One of those players is former third-round pick Eddie Vanderdoes.

After missing the entire 2018 season with a knee injury, Vanderdoes was finally healthy entering training camp. But after just two practices, it looks like the team will have to wait on him once again.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Vanderdoes suffered a concussion during Sunday’s practice and is expected to miss the team’s first padded practice on Monday.

The Raiders will practice Monday in pads for the first time this offseason. Given the injury, Vanderdoes is not expected to participate. He suffered the ailment about halfway into Sunday’s session and did not return.

Concussions can be a difficult injury to predict and project, but it seems likely the team will be cautious with the former UCLA defensive tackle. We will continue to update his progress as more information becomes available.
