Raiders' Derek Carr has swelling in pinky but expects to be OK

OAKLAND, Calif. _ A day after creating widespread panic when he had to leave the game with an injury to his right pinky, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is sore but otherwise doing fine.

"I'm doing good," Carr said on his weekly appearance on 95.7 The Game. "Obviously it's a little sore, but that's expected. But should be good. Just get some swelling down and we'll be alright."

Carr already said after the game on Sunday, a 35-32 win over the defending NFC champion Carolina Panthers, that he expects to practice this week and play when the Raiders (9-2) host the Buffalo Bills (6-5) at the Coliseum.

His main concern when he went to the locker room and sat out for a series was to rule out any serious damage, which was done when he had X-rays, and ask plenty of questions to the medical personnel to make sure it was a safe decision to return to the game.

"I wanted to make sure that if I went back out there that I was going to be OK, no matter what, maybe even if the worst case scenario happened," Carr said.

Carr got the answers he needed, returned to the game and, after two rough series, he got the Raiders back on track and led them to the fifth fourth-quarter comeback of the season.
