Raiders DE Maxx Crosby returns to practice field, clears COVID-19 protocols

The Raiders received a bit of good news on Friday as star defensive end Maxx Crosby returned to the practice field. The team placed Crosby on the reserve/COVID-19 list on August 6, and it took him just over a week to clear all the necessary protocols to get back on the field.

It’s still unclear whether Crosby tested positive for the coronavirus or if he was exposed to someone who showed symptoms. Either way, he was forced to quarantine for at least five days as part of the league’s protocol. While every timeline will be different, it’s encouraging to see that players are able to clear the protocols in under 10 days.

According to his teammate Clelin Ferrell, Crosby continued to work out during his short stay away from the team. While he didn’t have actual equipment at his house, Ferrell said that Crosby was “slapping” palm trees to stay ready. Luckily, Crosby wasn’t forced to miss too much time as the Raiders have yet to put on the pads yet at training camp.

Crosby is one of the team’s most important players heading into the 2020 season as the Raiders will be relying on him to create pressure off the edge. The former Eastern Michigan star totaled 10 sacks as a rookie and was among the league’s most impressive first-year players.
