Raiders DE Clelin Ferrell ranked 35th on Pro Football Focus’ big board

By most accounts, the Oakland Raiders “reached” with the No. 4 by selecting defensive end Clelin Ferrell. One site that believes the Raiders didn’t get maximum value for the pick was Pro Football Focus.

According to Pro Football Focus, Ferrell was their 35th-ranked player as he finished the 2018 season with the 13th-best by edge defenders.

Ferrell isn’t a great athlete, but he was highly productive in his time at Clemson. Over the last two seasons, Ferrell has accumulated 37.5 tackles for a loss and 21 sacks. During that time, he was a two-time All-American and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.

While he may not be flashy, Ferrell was dominant on the biggest stages, and his work ethic is legendary. The pick may feel like a reach now, but don’t be surprised if he winds up being one of the most productive defensive ends in this entire class.
