Embattled Canberra centre Curtis Scott has been charged with assault for his alleged pub altercation in May.

Scott found himself in hot water with both the NRL and Raiders after it emerged in early June that he had been at the centre of an incident in Canberra.

He was stood down at the time, and later received a three-game ban and fned a total of $30,000 by the NRL for bringing the game into disrepute.

The 23-year-old has not played since as he fell out of favour with Canberra, while also needing to quarantine to return to the NRL club's bubble.

However, the situation has now escalated after a formal complaint was made to ACT Police, prompting Scott to be charged.

He will face court on April 30.

"On the evening of 30 May 2021, a 31-year-old-man was allegedly assaulted while attending a city nightclub," ACT Police said.

"Police received a complaint about the matter in June 2021 and following an investigation, recently charged the 23-year-old with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

"He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on 30 August 2021."

Scott played just 13 games games for the Raiders last year after an Australia Day incident where he was tasered by police and charged with resisting arrest.

That case was later thrown out of court.
