Raiders CB Nevin Lawson suspended for 4 games due to substance abuse

The Oakland Raiders have done a solid job this offseason at adding depth to their secondary, specifically at cornerback. Unfortunately, that depth took a hit on Monday night as cornerback Nevin Lawson announced that he has been suspended for the first four games of the season due to a failed drug test.

Lawson was signed by the Raiders this offseason to compete for the cornerback job opposite of Gareon Conley. He has started 54 games in the NFL, all for the Detroit Lions.

Given the amount of talent on the Raiders’ roster, it isn’t guaranteed that Lawson will make the roster now that he will miss a quarter of the season.
