Raiders CB Isaiah Johnson designated to return from injured reserve list

Each season, every team is allowed to designate two players from their injured reserve list to return to the field after eight weeks. The injured player can practice after six weeks, but miss a total of eight games before returning to the action.

For Oakland, rookie cornerback Isaiah Johnson will be one of the two players the team brings off the injured reserve list this season, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronical.

Johnson was injured during the team’s first preseason game as he took a vicious shot to the face, giving him a concussion and injuring his jaw. However, the fourth-round rookie from Houston is ready to go and should give Oakland a boost in the secondary.

With Daryl Worley likely to play more snaps at safety as a “tight end stopper”, the team needed another body on the outside at cornerback. While Johnson will certainly be lower on the depth chart, look for him to be on the field once he is eligible to return.
