You can’t have enough moving pieces along the offensive line. And with that line of thinking, the Raiders have brought back utility lineman Jordan Devey, according to Mike Garafolo.
This will be Devey’s seventh NFL season. He came into the league with the Patriots and an undrafted free agent tackle out of Memphis. The Patriots moved the 6-6, 320-pounder to guard and he would start four games for them. The following season, he started nine games at guard for the 49ers.
In 2016, he joined the Chiefs, where he spent three seasons. In 2017, they tried Devey at center.
Devey was playing center when he came to the Raiders last year. At least, that’s where he was lining up through most of the offseason, coming in with the second-team behind All-Pro Rodney Hudson. Then in training camp when Gabe Jackson went out with an injury, Devey stepped up at right guard.
At the start of the season, he filled in at left guard for the suspended Richie Incognito. After incognito’s suspension ended, Devey moved back to right guard and started the next two games until a pectoral injury ended his season, sending him to injured reserve.
This offseason, the Raiders have made several moves at guard, including re-signing Incognito to a two-year extension and adding guard Eric Kush.
