Raiders attack man after home break-in in Paisley

A terrified Paisley homeowner was battered and threatened with a metal bar when he disturbed two thieves at his home.

The violent thugs pounced on the 36-year-old when he found them lurking outside his house in Gallowhill.

One of the brutes punched him on the head before the other brandished a metal bar during the daylight raid.

The victim then discovered the pair had stolen a four-figure sum worth of jewellery after forcing their way into the rear of his Arkleston Drive house.

The man was left badly shaken by his ordeal.

Police say the suspects sped off from the home invasion in a black car.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, community policing inspector for Paisley, appealed for witnesses to get in touch following Tuesday’s incident.

She said: “A 36-year-old man was assaulted by two males at his home in Arkleston Drive, Paisley, at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

“One of the men struck him to the head and the other brandished a metal bar at him before they both made off in a black car.

“A quantity of jewellery was subsequently found to have been stolen from the property.

“The victim was not badly injured, thankfully.”

She added: “This was a completely unacceptable incident where a member of the public has been assaulted and his high value items stolen from his house.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

“Did you see the black car in the street at all?

“If you have CCTV of the street or if you captured dashcam cam footage when driving there, then I would urge you to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
