Over the next few weeks, we will get a better idea of the Raiders’ biggest needs at the NFL Draft as the team prepares for free agency. Once Oakland makes some signings, it might give us a better idea as to which players the team could target.
However, what the Raiders do in free agency, they will need to get more help at the linebacker position. Over the last several seasons, it has been the Achilles’ Heel for their defense. That is why I fully expect the Raiders to use one of their three first-round picks on a linebacker.
In the latest CBS Sports mock draft, Jared Dublin gave the Raiders arguably one of the best linebackers in the class to the Raiders at pick No.27; Devin Bush from Michigan. Bush is a short linebacker, but he is not small. At the NFL Combine, he weighed in at a stout 234 pounds.
According to Pro Football Focus, Bush recorded 33 stops and 20 pressures as he finished the season with an overall grade of 85.3. He was simply one of the best linebackers in the country last season.
If the Raiders are lucky enough to select Bush at the bottom of the first round, he would instantly become the team’s best linebacker. Look for the Raiders to have substantial interest in the former Michigan Wolverine.
