Rahul Roy Slams Trolls Over Instagram Reels, Farah Khan and Sonu Sood Extend Support

In a heartfelt note shared on social media, the Aashiqui (1990) actor addressed those mocking him for participating in the reels, stating that his simplicity and struggles were being unfairly ridiculed. He urged detractors to either show understanding or help him find meaningful work instead of making fun of his situation.

He wrote that he continues to work with honesty and humility, while also dealing with legal expenses that predate his 2020 brain stroke. Emphasizing his desire to stay active after recovery, he added that working gives him purpose and helps keep his mind engaged. He also made it clear that criticism would not discourage him, saying he remains committed to working for as long as he can.

Following his statement, several members of the film industry came forward in support. Filmmaker Farah Khan was among the first to publicly encourage him, commenting, “Good luck to you Rahul.”

Actor Sonu Sood also extended support, writing, “Keep Rocking Brother,” while Shilpa Shirodkar remarked that one must continue doing what they need to do and ignore negativity, wishing him the best.

Actor Anupam Kher added his encouragement as well, calling Rahul “the BESTEST,” and actor-host Maniesh Paul shared his admiration, sending “love and respect” and wishing him continued strength.

Several other celebrities from the industry, including Nikitin Dheer, Tina Datta, Karanvir Bohra, Tannaz Irani, Vatsal Sheth, Apurva Agnihotri, and Mahhi Vij, also voiced their support with messages of encouragement and solidarity.

The controversy began after videos of Rahul Roy appearing in reels with Dr Vanita Ghadage Desai went viral, including one where he danced to the song Tere Dar Pe Sanam from his 1993 film Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi. While some viewers expressed concern for his well-being, others mocked the content, prompting widespread debate online.

Rahul Roy, who rose to fame with his debut in Aashiqui, later appeared in films such as Junoon (1992), Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare (1992), and Gumrah (1993). After a decline in his film career, he returned to prominence by winning the first season of Bigg Boss in 2007. In 2020, he suffered a brain stroke during the shoot of LAC – Live the Battle in Kargil, but has since recovered and continues to remain active in the industry.
