Raheem Sterling to Chelsea: Medical booked with £50m signing to join USA pre-season tour

Chelsea have agreed a £50million deal with Manchester City to sign Raheem Sterling, with the forward now set to undergo a medical.

The Blues will pay a guaranteed £47.5m, with £2.5m made up of performance-related add-ons.

Sterling has already agreed a five-year deal with Chelsea, with the option of a further year, which will see him become the club's highest-paid player on over £300,000 a week.

Chelsea hope Sterling will complete a medical early next week and then join his new team-mates on the pre-season tour of the United States. The squad flew out on Saturday.

Sterling, who leaves City after seven years, has been Chelsea's top transfer target for the summer and becomes the first signing of the Todd Boehly era.

Interest in Raphinha remains, with Leeds having accepted a £60m bid, but Barcelona are working hard on agreeing a fee. Richarlison was also of interest but Tottenham signed the Everton forward.

For Sterling it is a return to London a decade after leaving QPR for Liverpool. He has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups with City, scoring 131 goals in 339 appearances.
