Raheem Sterling sends message to Man City fans following England's penalty shootout victory against Switzerland

One of Man City's players of the season, Raheem Sterling, has wished supporters a happy holidays following England's penalty shootout victory over Switzerland.

After the Three Lions crashed out of the Nations League in the semi-final to the Netherlands, following some costly mistakes from City defender John Stones, they had to play Switzerland in the third place play-off.

England dominated the game, hitting the woodwork several times and having a winning goal harshly disallowed by VAR once again but the game finished 0-0 after 120 minutes and went to a shootout.

England scored all six of their penalties, including a great strike from Sterling and bizarrely goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, to end the football season on a positive note.

Sterling revealed he'll now rest after a grueling season in which he played 58 games for club and country.

"Final point of this season on a positive note," the City star Tweeted after the game.

"Not the outcome we were hoping for but still we can be proud of the course and our dedication to it.

"Time to put my foot up, rest and go again for the preseason. Have good holidays my people be blessed."

City's players will report back for training in early July before heading off to Asia for their pre-season tour.
