Raheem Sterling sends Liverpool 'massive' warning over Man City Premier League title reaction

Raheem Sterling has declared Manchester City haven't given up on winning the Premier League title this season - and warned former club Liverpool to expect a "massive" reaction next season regardless.

The Reds moved within three wins of claiming a first title in 30 years with a 2-1 home triumph over Bournemouth on Saturday.

City are 25 points adrift having played two games fewer, one of which is the Manchester derby at Old Trafford this afternoon.

And while not yet relinquishing an unlikely third successive championship, Sterling has informed Liverpool next season will be different.

"I wouldn't say we let it (the title) go too easily," he said. "In our first season (under Guardiola) we scored a lot of late goals and we kind of built momentum throughout the season and this season we've had little decisions that go against you.

"They (Liverpool) have been consistent and we've been slacking and we haven't kept our standards that we know we can keep.

"From now until the end of the season we need to try and win every single game and whatever happens, happens.

"We won the league twice in a row. They're winning the league at this moment in time but I'm pretty sure, come the end of the season, when our boys go away and come back again, we'll be very hurt - if they do pick up the league -  and we'll be up and running next season, for sure."

Asked whether Liverpool can expect a reaction next term, Sterling said to Sky Sports: "Yeah, a massive one."
