Raheem Sterling's unseen touch of class after Man City beat Liverpool

Raheem Sterling has been the subject of a large amount of criticism from Liverpool fans in recent seasons.

The Manchester City forward has been in the bad books of Reds supporters since his exit from Anfield in 2015.

Liverpool lost 4-0 to Man City in their Premier League clash on Thursday night, which still leaves the Reds a staggering 20 points clear at the top of the table with six fixtures left to play.

Sterling scored at the Etihad and despite the result the Reds will still be savouring the guard of honour shown by City before the match.

The Reds have already secured the Premier League title, and the City players showed a mark of respect before kick-off by giving Liverpool a guard of honour.

Sterling was part of the show of respect, and also made a classy gesture to Liverpool after the final whistle.

According to journalist Henry Winter, the Man City winger went over to Reds skipper and former team mate Jordan Henderson offer his congratulations on winning the league title.

The Man City winger is said to have walked nearly the full length of the pitch after Thursday night’s match to approach Henderson and embrace him and congratulate the Reds captain.

Sterling left Anfield the same summer Henderson replaced Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain, but the pair did play numerous times together beforehand.
