Raheem Sterling's hilarious reaction to Rodri's stunning goal against Burnley

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling revealed he was thankful Rodri's thunderous goal in the 4-1 victory over Burnley missed his face on its way to the goal in his hilarious reaction to the strike.

City finally got back on track on Tuesday night after a disappointing week of draws which saw them fall 11 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Failure to win on a chilly night at Turf Moor was near unthinkable, as it could have put an end to City's title defence before the new year, but the Blues returned to their best with a dominant performance.

They controlled the game from start to finish and scored some lovely goals on their way to the victory, with Gabriel Jesus scoring the first in the opening half with a finessed shot after cutting in from the left.

The Brazilian doubled the lead just after the break as he latched onto a fine cross to blast the ball home from close range on the volley.

Rodri then added a third with a screamer of a shot from 20 yards that riffled into the top corner before Riyad Mahrez wrapped up the win by scoring his 50th Premier League goal after finishing off a mazy run.

Robbie Brady did add a late consolation but it mattered little as City players looked delighted with the win afterwards.

Rodri's ferocious strike was the pick of the goals and Sterling reacted to the strike in typically hilarious fashion.

He tweeted after the game: "Lucky that Rodri shot didn’t hit my face cuz I would have gone straight back to Jamaica with that."

Which was accompanied with sweating and laughing emojis and a clip of the goal which shows how close it came to hitting Sterling.

City managed to shorten the gap with Liverpool to eight points with the win and will be hoping Everton can do them a favour in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side will have their own derby to contend with on Saturday when Manchester United visit the Etihad.
