Raheem Sterling ridicules Piers Morgan on Twitter by reminding him of 2015 post

Raheem Sterling has ridiculed Piers Morgan on Twitter by reminding him of something he said about the Manchester City star in 2015.

At the time, Sterling was on the verge of completing a £49million transfer from Liverpool to the Etihad in a bid to win some silverware.

Everyone had an opinion on the move, with many suspecting the England international was merely signing for the bumper pay packet.

In July 2015, just days before Sterling put pen to paper with City, Morgan tweeted: "If Raheem Sterling's worth £49million then I'm an Aardvark."

At the time, no one really batted an eyelid at the comment.

But five years on and Morgan's tweet hasn't exactly aged well, considering Sterling is arguably the most valuable player in the Premier League, based on his ability and age, and valued at close to £160million by the CIES Football Observatory.

Responding to the tweet this Tuesday, Sterling posted three laughing emojis alongside the comment: "Now this is even funnier Piers."

Backtracking, Morgan replied: "Haha, touche! I meant you were worth a lot MORE than £49million, Raheem... obviously."

He later shared an image of an aardvark, with the comment: "Hi mate."

Sterling has been one of the most successful players in Manchester City's history, and has won two Premier League trophies, an FA Cup and four league cups with the club.

The winger has also been in sensational form since the restart, and has netted seven in as many fixtures in all competitions.
