Raheem Sterling is craving one football shirt in particular for the trophy room he plans to build at the end of his career.
Manchester City forward Sterling has matured to become one of the best players in the world under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and has been an integral part of a team that has won two Premier League titles and dominated English football, as well as featuring in the England team that reached the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
The 25-year-old is keen not to have reminders of his career to date all over his house in an effort to separate his personal and professional life.
However, he has been keeping hold of opposition shirts picked up from matches for when he does have a room to mark his footballing achievements. There will be at least one Barcelona shirt on display, but Sterling is hoping to land another.
“I am a shirt collector, but I have not put any shirts on my wall as of yet. I don’t like people coming to my house and knowing I am a football player," he said.
"I like to keep my house family orientated, but when I finish football and settle somewhere, I will have many shirts to choose from and pick my favourites that I have played against and do a room of trophies and football shirts.
"I think there is only one that I really want to be honest with you and that is a [Lionel] Messi shirt. We played Barcelona and I got a Neymar shirt, and I think that is the first shirt I ever asked for so that’s still in my cupboard for when I go to Jamaica, that’s for sure.”
