Raheem Sterling reveals what Pep Guardiola 'really' said to him after FA Cup final

Raheem Sterling has responded to fans asking him what Pep Guardiola said to him after Manchester City's FA Cup final win over Watford .

Sterling scored two goals in Manchester City 6-0 Watford: 6 talking points as Pep Guardiola's men make history which secured an unprecedented domestic treble - although he thought he had scored a hat-trick until the FA later confirmed the second goal belonged to Gabriel Jesus.

Despite his goalscoring heroics, the England forward could be seen in intense discussions with Guardiola following the Wembley triumph, with the City boss appearing to be dishing out tactical advice to a seemingly shell-shocked Sterling even after the end of such a successful season.

City also won the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup this season, as well as the Community Shield back in August.

Fans were keen to know what Guardiola was saying to Sterling, who was one of City's star players this term and was voted the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.

But Sterling played down the tactical talking-to, saying "He just said I shouldn't have tried to steal that first goal ..." along with two laughing emojis.

Sterling thought he had scored City's second goal when he smashed Jesus's shot into the back of the net - but the FA later said the Brazilian's shot had already crossed the line.

Had that goal been credited to Sterling, he would have become just the fourth player to score an FA Cup Final hat-trick, and the first since Stan Mortensen in 1953.

"Credit to all the boys today. It's been a fantastic year.

"Growing up here, growing up seeing this get built, it's a dream to be on this football field and winning trophies. It's a massive dream come true.

What Man City's FA Cup win means for European qualification from Premier League

"It just shows what the manager is building here. He came in at the start of the season and told us to get the mentality right and try to go for the Premier League again.

"We've done that again and done it exceptionally well.

"It's just credit to the boys to be mentally switched on all season. It's been a long season, with the World Cup as well, and I'm just happy that everyone has been focused and on their A-game all the way through."
