Raheem Sterling makes Wilfried Zaha admission after beating Crystal Palace ace in FIFA 20 clash

It was always likely to be a fierce battle between two of the Premier League's top attackers.

And so it proved as Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha met in the inaugural ePremier League Invitational tournament, which sees players come up against each other on FIFA 20.

Sterling and Zaha were both considered among the contenders for the tournament, but were drawn together in the first round.

The match may have been played out on the screen, but it was not short of excitement, with nine goals scored as Sterling won 5-4 with his Manchester City side, despite Zaha taking a 3-2 lead in the game at one stage.

After the game, which was broadcast via Twitter, Sterling admitted that he felt the pressure for the game, adding that he knew the Palace forward would be a tough opponent for him.

"It is a lot different to what I am used to," he said.

"My pride is on the line and there was a lot at stake for me today.

"Wilf is a very good player, so it was good to get the win in the end.

"To be fair, I am the sort of FIFA player where if you score four, I'll score five. I knew that Wilf was a good attacking player, but I have got him out of the way now. I have started this now, so I have got to try and go all the way to the end."

Zaha was not happy with one of the goals scored by Sterling in the game, but he conceded that the Manchester City man made the most of his opportunities.

"I am so frustrated, I can't lie," Zaha said.

"My defending in that game was so bad, it was a case of who could outscore the other, but the best man won.

"I am a good FIFA player, but he took his chances, so I can't complain."

Sterling will now face either Chelsea's Reece James or Everton's Andre Gomes in the next round of the tournament, which started yesterday.

The semi-finals and final are due to take place on Saturday, April 25, and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
