Raheem Sterling made 'complete' player at Man City after 'good' Liverpool transfer

Giovanni van Bronckhorst believes Raheem Sterling made the right move to join Manchester City from Liverpool

The Holland legend explained that Pep Guardiola's ability to develop players and show confidence at the right times has helped the winger improve to become a "complete player."

England international Sterling, 26, left the Reds in 2015 when Brendan Rodgers was still in charge in a deal worth £49million while Manuel Pellegrini was at the helm at the Etihad.

Van Bronckhorst told Stadium Astro : "In England, when you are young and playing for the first-team at a big club like Liverpool it's normal that your game will go through ups and downs.

"You don't have the consistency that comes when you're a bit older.

"For him the move to City was a good one, because he gets the confidence of the coach, especially the last years with Pep - every player that plays for him develops even more.

"He was already good, but now he understands the game, he understands what he has to bring to the team, offensively and also defensively.

"Pep is letting him play with freedom and that suits him best. He is a complete player, and making the difference in so many games across recent years."
