Raheem Sterling injury: Man City confirm hamstring injury with England star a doubt to face Real Madrid

Manchester City have ruled Raheem Sterling out of Sunday’s Premier League match with West Ham due to a hamstring injury.

The extent of the England international’s injury remains unclear after pulling up during the loss to Tottenham last weekend.

The fear is that Sterling could miss as much as four weeks, which would immediately dent City’s chances in the Champions League, with Real Madrid up next in the last 16.

The first leg at the Bernabeu takes place on 26 February, while the second leg is three weeks later on 17 March.

City tweeted: “Raheem Sterling will miss our game against West Ham this weekend after scans revealed he has suffered damage to his left hamstring.

“Everyone at City wishes sterling7 a full and speedy recovery”.

Fortunately for City, Sterling’s injury coincides with their mid-season break, which begins after the Hammers game and lasts for almost two weeks.

City are due to travel to Leicester on February 22 before facing the Spanish giants at the Bernabeu Stadium four days later.
