Raheem Sterling details mood in Man City camp after Arsenal win

Raheem Sterling claims Manchester City have shown their character by seizing control of the title race.

City are 10 points clear thanks their record 18-game winning streak in all completions and Sterling is proud of how they have recovered from their slow start when they won just three of their first eight league matches.

“We had a difficult start to the season, it was something we’re not used to,” said the England star.

“We weren’t scoring as many goals as we’re used to and it’s a credit to the team that we started to dig results out. That’s the sign of a winning team that you have to dig results out.

“There are fantastic teams in the league this season. All of the other teams have been grinding out results.

“We’ve just got to focus on ourselves and that’s the most important thing. We’re in control of our own destiny. Hopefully, it all works out well.”

City look unstoppable, but Sterling insists no-one in their dressing room is getting carried away by their winning run.

“Every year when you’re at Manchester City, that’s the target,” he said. “I’m not going to stand here and lie to you, one of our aims is to try to win the Premier League title.

“It’s still early days and we still have massive games coming up, but we keep our focus and go again. We won’t get ahead of ourselves and we still know it’s a long season to go.

“We will take it step by step and not get ahead of ourselves.”

Sterling scored the winner in City's 1-0 victory at Arsenal on Sunday to take his tally to 13 goals for the season, while he has also chipped in with eight assists.
