Raheem Sterling and Virgil van Dijk to face off for one final individual award

Raheem Sterling and Virgil van Dijk will contest one more individual award this season after being nominated for the PFA Premier League fans’ player of the year.

Liverpool defender Van Dijk was last month named PFA player of the year, an award voted for by professional footballers across the country, pipping Sterling to the prize. The Manchester City and England winger was later named the Football Writers’ Association footballer of the year.

Van Dijk was crucial to Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge as the Reds amassed a club record 97 points, falling one short of champions Manchester City.

Sterling scored 17 Premier League goals for the champions last season, adding 12 assists, while Van Dijk played in every single League game for Liverpool, scoring four and keeping 21 clean sheets.

The duo have been shortlisted alongside wantaway Chelsea star Eden Hazard, the only player on this list outside of Liverpool or Manchester, as well as Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Sadio Mane.

Fans can vote for their player of the season here until 8am on May 27.
