Former Liverpool star Raheem Sterling is closing in on a move to Chelsea after the London club reached a transfer agreement worth £47.5million with Manchester City.
The 27-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the London club and is expected to sign a five-year deal, with the option of a further year. Sterling been a City player since leaving Anfield in 2015 for £50million though now looks set for a new challenge as Thomas Tuchel's side edge closer to their first piece of transfer business under the ownership of Todd Boehly.
Despite sell-on clauses being common practice in Liverpool transfer deals these days, the ECHO understands the Reds aren’t in line to receive any further payments from City should Sterling move on. That’s because such clauses usually only last for the duration of the original contract signed upon leaving.

The winger signed a five-year contract with City after leaving the Reds, before penning a three-year extension back in November 2018. As a result, Liverpool haven't been entitled to any fees from a sale since then.
Pep Guardiola's side have strengthened significantly this summer, offsetting the loss of Jesus and potentially Sterling, with their two main captures being Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
