Raheem Sterling admits daughter supports Liverpool and sings Mo Salah songs to him

He may have left Liverpool nearly five years ago, but it seems Raheem Sterling's daughter isn't letting him forget where he first became a Premier League star.

Melody, seven, has chosen not to switch her affections to Sterling's current club Manchester City , but instead prefers the run-away Premier League leaders.

And Sterling revealed in an interview with Spanish outlet AS that she even taunts him by singing about Reds top scorer Mohamed Salah.

When asked about Melody's love of Jurgen Klopp's side, Sterling said: "She has my sort of personality and she likes to banter and chant Mo Salah's songs to me.

"She knows the rivalry between Liverpool and the team that I play for so she's always singing their songs and trying to wind me up but that's just her personality."

Sterling first joined Liverpool's academy in 2010, making his first senior appearance at the age of just 17 as a substitute in a Premier League game against Wigan.

He went on to become a hugely important player for the Reds, scoring 23 goals in 129 appearances, but he angered supporters when he pushed for a move to City, and left the club in 2015 to switch to the Etihad.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola he has become one of the most feared wingers in world football, but he is still regularly booed when he returns to Anfield with City.

Speaking about Melody and his two other children, Thiago and Thai-Cruz, Sterling added: "Football takes up a lot of your time but at the end of the day when things get rough or tough that is what makes you happy.

"Seeing your kids is possibly the most important part of your day. They take away everything that's going on outside and you can block that out, so when I go home, everything seems perfect."
