Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to perform in Glasgow's Braehead arena this summer

Qawwali singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will be performing in Glasgow this summer.

The popular Pakistani singer has amassed an incredible 1.4 billion YouTube views on just one of his songs and he'll be performing it in front of thousands of fans at the Braehead Arena.

His biggest hits include Zaroori Tha and Mere Rashke Qamar which he's likely to wow a 4000-strong crowd with when he performs in front of Glaswegians this July.

Rahat is one of the most famous and highest-paid singers in Pakistan and has a huge following all over the world.

He is the nephew of legendary Qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan; son of musician, Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and grandson of singer, Fateh Ali Khan.

His material is mainly Qawwali – a form of Sufi devotional music – although he also performs love songs from the ghazals genre and other light music.

When Rahat toured the UK in 2012, he played to a combined audience of more than 20,000 people, performing at Wembley Arena and Manchester Arena.

He has now added a Glasgow date to his latest UK tour.

Braehead Arena managing director, Gareth Chalmers said: “From what I’ve seen and heard of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan this concert will be a sell-out.

“Fans of his music will be mesmerised by the show, his voice and his stage presence.

“It looks like this will be a memorable night and a concert not to be missed.”

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform to an expected sell-out crowd at the arena on Sunday, July 2, with doors opening from 3.30pm.

The concert at Braehead Arena will be the only Scottish date on Rahat’s UK tour this year and tickets are now on sale here.
