Raging Kylian Mbappe 'wanted' to hold angry French press conference to hit back at Olivier Giroud criticism

Fuming Kylian Mbappe was reportedly talked out of holding an emotional press conference in response to Olivier Giroud's veiled criticism over their relationship.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar was incensed by his France team-mate's claim that the "ball is not arriving" when the pair were linking-up in the 3-0 win over Bulgaria.

L'Equipe state Mbappe was initially hell-bent on going public in a bid to get his side of the story across just days before Les Bleus' Euro 2020 campaign gets underway against Germany.

It's a headache France boss Didier Deschamps could do without after already making the bold call to reintroduce Karim Benzema to his squad after a five-year absence.

It comes after former France international Jean Micoud let rip at world superstar Mbappe by telling him to cool it after he appeared miffed at his substitution on Tuesday night.

He said: "It's becoming embarrassing. And even when he came off.

"You have just played two warm-up matches, it has gone very well and when he came off the pitch it was as if the team had lost 4-0. At some point it is not all about you."

France are the red-hot favourites to make it two major tournament victories in a row but are in the danger group alongside Germany, Portugal and Hungary.
