Raging Kris Boyd fumes over Rangers VAR call insisting 'it's a penalty all day long'

Kris Boyd has slammed VAR for failing to advise Nick Walsh to check a Rangers penalty incident against Celtic this afternoon.

As the first half was drawing to a close, Alistair Johnston appeared to handle the ball inside Celtic's box.

The Canadian was trying to usher the ball out of play while also dealing with some close attention from Abdallah Sima at the back-post.

However, as Sima tried to keep the ball in play, the ball struck the outstretched arm of right back Johnston.

Willie Collum reviewed the incident on VAR, but after a short check, play was waved on by on-field official Walsh.

This has left Boyd bemused at the call, with the Hoops 1-0 up at half time thanks to a Paulo Bernardo strike.

Asked for their reaction in the Sky Sports studio, James McFadden chimed in first. He said: "Yes, yes. I think we're all in agreement

Boyd added: "100 percent. Sima's got that down the other side of him. Listen, it's accidental but it's going to lead to a chance.

"Sima is there and Alistair Johnston's hand puts it out of play.

"He has used his arm to take that ball away from Sima. It is a penalty kick all day long."

Neil Lennon concluded: "If I was a manager and that didn't go for me I would be apoplectic. It's just such a clear one, especially when you see it from behind the goal.

"I know it's not intentional from Alistair but he actually stops Sima getting across him and getting a cross him. It is accidental but it's clear and obvious."
