Raging Eran Zahavi tells Israel team-mates 'you can't defend' as he lets rip after Scotland defeat

Fizzing Eran Zahavi slaughtered his own team-mates after Israel's Hampden defeat and warned them their rotten defending is to blame.

Scotland are edging closer to the World Cup play-offs with a thrilling 3-2 win thanks to Scott McTominay 's injury time winner.

Willi Ruttensteiner knows the game is up with the Israel FA on the lookout for a new boss after their chances took a huge dent with the defeat.

And PSV Eindhoven ace Zahavi was furious at the last gasp loss.

He said: "I'm tired of saying the same things in interviews after the match when we have lost.

"We do not know how to defend.

"Every time we retreat on the pitch, it's just a matter of when we will concede.

"We kept going backwards and we shouldn't have done that because the coach told us to attack Scotland.

"I feel bad for Orir Marciano too because he did not deserve to lose the game."

And Israel skipper Bibras Natkho admitted they wilted because of the Hampden atmosphere.

The Partizan Belgrade midfielder said: "The pressure increased on us at the game went on because of the crowd.

"And unfortunately, it told in the 90th minute when they won the game.

"I don't know if Scotland deserved to win or not, but we didn't play well enough in the second half. That's 12 years now I have waited in this team for qualification so it's hugely disappointing.

"Maybe it's time for a new generation to try."
