Raging Corrie fans turn on 'selfish' Leanne over her brutal confession about Sam

Hearts are breaking for little Sam Blakeman following the shock death of his mother Natasha on Coronation Street.

And fans were feeling protective as Leanne Battersby discussed the subject of becoming his guardian after the recent horrific events on the cobbles.

In a frank chat with her step sister Toyah, Leanne confessed that she wasn't ready to be a mum again to her partner Nick's son.

"I don't even know if I want to be his mum," she told Toyah.

Fans turned on Leanne (ITV)

Leanne is feeling this way after her three-year-old son Oliver died of mitochondrial disease last year.

"I'm frightened to get close to him in case something happens," she explained.

But Corrie fans were angry with Leanne for thinking of herself instead of the grieving 10-year-old.

And they pointed out that it was Leanne who became embroiled with drugs lord Harvey Gaskell.

Harvey shot Natasha in a case of mistaken identity when he was hunting Leanne down.

Viewers took to Twitter to vent their anger.

"Awww Leanne how could you say that about Sam?"asked one.

"Selfish Leanne is part of the reason Sam's mum is dead but doesn’t want to be his mum," fumed another.

"I would not want a child of mine raised by Leanne that’s for sure," raged another viewer.

"Leanne isn’t even good enough to babysit let alone be his mum anyway. Poor little one," another tweeted angrily.

In heartbreaking scenes Sam reeled after seeing the spot in Leanne and Nick's flat where his mum was gunned down.

"They must have used hot water," said the youngster.

"If there was a blood stain, mum's blood, then they must have used hot water when they should have used cold for a blood stain and too much bleach. That must be why it's lighter where they've cleaned it."2

And he told his dad and Leanne: "I don't think I want to live here with the floor like that."
