Raging Celtic fans halted by police forming human shield as Neil Lennon protest boils over

Angry Celtic fans have been blocked off by police after attempting to storm Parkhead's main entrance as they call for Neil Lennon to be sacked.

Videos have emerged of supporters appearing to knock over a security fence with cops in attendance looking to keep angry fans at bay.

Supporters have marched upon Celtic Park after their side's humiliating 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ross County in the Betfred Cup.

A large number of supporters - including the club's ultras the Green Brigade - have urged the Celtic manager to walk and that was before the 4-1 defeat to Sparta and today capitulation against the Staggies.

A large police presence raced to Celtic Park in the aftermath of the result with fans currently locked out of Scottish football in the West of Scotland amid the pandemic.

Chants of "Sack the Board" have been heard from hundreds of supporters as the pressure mounts on Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond to make a decision over the future of the 49-year-old.

But despite the desperation from a section of the support - Lennon believes he can still turn things around.

Speaking after the game, he said: "It's my job as the manager, I'm the face of the football department.

"It's whatever you call it, my philosophy or my tactics.

"What I'm trying to work out is we're more or less the same squad of players who were rampant last year and they've certainly not been rampant this year in any sort of consistent vein of form.

"Whether it's living  in the pandemic or whether it's without the supporters, if that is the case than we HAVE to adapt to that better.

"But I think they're just lacking a little bit of confidence, some of them.

"We're not playing anywhere near as well as we can and that's on me."
