Rafe Spall says his kids can be 'b******s' as he tries to home-school them in lockdown

He's just appeared as a police officer in major BBC drama The Salibury Poisonings but Rafe Spall says that home-schooling his children during lockdown nearly broke him.

The father of three admitted: “They can be absolute b******s and make it really difficult for you - it's difficult, really difficult.

"You’ve just got to keep patient - and bite your tongue.”

Rafe, son of actor Timothy Spall, said that children were a “great leveller” in life.

"You’ve got to take your kids to school. I have been wiping bums for nine years.

"If you don't have things that keep you grounded it is easy to lose yourself. My youngest is four so we are through it.”

He says being a news junkie hasn't helped his anxiety levels.

“That has been my lockdown. Reading every newspaper constantly, home schooling my children and a tonne of booze.

“I miss sitting in traffic jams and getting on the tube. The mundane things like that. I have been booking restaurants for the end of summer.”

Rafe's appearance in The Salisbury Poisonings depicts the public health crisis following the poisoning of an MI6 agent and his daughter in the town back in 2018.

And since it happened so recently - and in the town itself - some Salisbury residents have been a little spooked.

The show aired across three nights on BBC One, and has been a huge hit with fans.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Second episode of #SalibsuryPoisonings and still can't believe it all happened in our beautiful city. So weird being reminded of it all...particularly with everything else going on right now #lovesalisbury."

Another tweeted: "Weird watching #SalisburyPoisonings still seems so unbelievable that it happened just down the road..."

A third shared: "V weird watching #SalisburyPoisonings when it's happened a stone's throw from where you're currently sat..."
