Rafael names his dream Manchester United six a side team

Manchester United cult hero Rafael made a guest appearance on the MUTV Group Chat to talk about his time with the Reds and selected his dream six-a-side team from the players he played alongside.

The Brazilian made 170 appearances for United, winning three leagues titles, before leaving to join Lyon in 2015.

Rafael remains an important player for the Ligue 1 side and was part of the team that defeated Manchester City in 2018 during the Champions League group stage.

The defender played with some iconic names during his seven-year spell at United and was tasked with naming a dream six-a-side team from the stars he played alongside.

"[Gasps] Ooh, it's hard," he told MUTV. "I put Van der Sar in goal - sorry David [De Gea]!

"I have to put Van Der Sar. Ferdinand. I put Giggs on the left, he [can] score from the middle.

"[Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Wayne] Rooney and Antonio Valencia.”

Rafael was also asked for a personal highlight from his time at the club and gave an answer that United supporters will love.

He said overtaking Liverpool's record of 18 league titles was his best moment.

The defender added: "I always say that when you get to 18, and when you pass Liverpool!

"Everybody's talking about 'stop the competition', no? They don't get to 20! It will be hard for them [if the league is cancelled], great for us!

"But that [winning the 19th title in 2011] was my best moment.”
