Rafael Benitez thanked after sending message to Liverpool after Premier League win

Rafael Benitez congratulated Liverpool on their 'dream coming true' after they were named Premier League champions on Thursday.

Manchester City losing at Chelsea guaranteed Liverpool the title with seven matches remaining and Benitez - who was in charge at Anfield between 2004-2010 - was delighted to see his former club clinch their first league championship since 1990.

"Congratulations to Liverpool, after 30 years, the dream comes true!" the Spaniard posted on social media.

"Very happy for all the Reds! You'll never walk alone #YNWA #Champions #Liverpool."

Benitez remains a popular figure amongst supporters with replies praising him for his spell as manager.

"Thanks for Istanbul Boss x," came one reply while another read: "Thank you so much for all you've done for LFC, Rafa!"

Benitez is currently in charge of Dalian Professional in the Chinese Super League.
