The Chronicle has launched a Rafa Must Stay campaign in order to implore the club - and the manager - to ensure that he signs a new contract.
His current deal expires on June 30, and talks with the club appear to have hit an impasse - meaning there is now a very real possibility that the 59-year-old will leave at the end of the season.
For the vast majority of Newcastle fans, it is unthinkable that he might be allowed to walk away and the club would face another major period of upheaval if all the good work Benitez has done over three years comes to nothing.
As the local news outlet, we want the club to succeed - and we firmly believe that Benitez is the manager who can deliver for the Magpies in the coming years, just as he has done during his time at St James' Park already.
So the Chronicle has launched this appeal to NUFC - and Benitez - to come to an agreement to prevent the best opportunity the club has had for years from slipping from their grasp.
