Rafa Mir linked with Nottingham Forest exit as Leeds United set sights on 'target'

RAFA MIR LINKED WITH EXIT

Nottingham Forest striker Rafa Mir warms up (Dan Westwell)

Striker Rafa Mir is reportedly considering his options as his time at Nottingham Forest looks set to come to an early end.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee has struggled to make an impact since switching to the City Ground in the summer, making 13 appearances - nine of them as a substitute - and failing to find the back of the net.

And, according to reports in his homeland, the Spaniard is wanted by Real Zaragoza for the second half of the campaign.

A “request” has been made to Wolves for the forward’s services, according to Sport Aragon.

Che Adams will not be leaving Southampton in January, despite interest growing in the former Ilkeston striker.

Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are two of the Championship promotion hopefuls understood to be keen on signing the £15m man when the window opens later this week.

On Tuesday morning it was reported that Marcelo Bielsa had made Adams his top target, if Arsenal recall striker Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell at Elland Road.

Despite speculation increasing, the Daily Echo have poured cold water on suggestions Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will allow the 23-year-old to leave St Mary’s.

VAR DECISION MADE

A general view of the VAR (Steven Paston/PA Wire)

Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup tie at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon will be officiated by Video Assistant Referees (VAR).

The controversial technology was introduced to the Premier League at the start of the season, having been used sporadically in the Carabao and FA Cups last term, and the FA confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live that all third round ties held at Premier League stadiums this weekend will operate it.

It’ll be the first time the Reds have played under VAR, with previous cup ties at Chelsea and Arsenal in the past year not utilising it.

MOWBRAY NAMES CONCERN

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray during his side's 2-1 win at Reading (Eddie Greville)

Nottingham Forest kick off the new year with a home clash against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow.

The Reds returned to the top six after making it two wins from two last time out with a narrow win over Wigan Athletic.

But it's a different story for Wednesday's opponents Blackburn , who have fallen three points off the pace of the playoffs following two draws and a defeat.

Last time out, they lost to strugglers Huddersfield, though they haven't been helped by a number of injuries , none more so than 10-goal star Bradley Dack, who was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Rovers must now find a way to replace the goals scored by their leading scorer, something manager Tony Mowbray has his concerns about ahead of Wednesday's trip to the City Ground.

A new year is almost upon us with not long to go until the dawn of 2020.

New Year's Day brings the next installment of Nottingham Forest football with Blackburn Rovers in town on Wednesday afternoon.

But before we get to that, there's the turn of the year to celebrate, and one of the biggest traditions is to set in stone a New Year's resolution.

With that in mind, we have been asking Forest fans on favourite to suggest a resolution for their club.
