Rafa Camacho was not included in Sporting CP's squad to face Liverpool in the United States.
The Reds take on the Portuguese side at 1.05am (BST) on July 25.
This summer Camacho refused to sign a new contract at Anfield after viewing his first-team chances as remote.
The wantaway youngster joined Sporting in a deal worth £7million with the Reds adding in a sell-on clause they feel can net them a tidy profit down the line.
The European champions also have the chance to buy Camacho back later in his career and close tabs will be kept on his development.
Camacho made two first-team appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side last term, but had become frustrated over his lack of game-time at Anfield.
He has taken part in pre-season matches with Sporting already but hasn't been taken Stateside with the Primeira Liga team to face his former side.

However, Camacho is not the only ex-Red in their ranks with Sebastian Coates and Tiago Ilori also part of Marcel Keizer's set up and both have made the trip across the Atlantic to face the European Champions.
Centre-back Coates made 24 appearances for Liverpool after arriving in the summer of 2011 but leaving just two years later.
Ilori was purchased from Lisbon in the summer of 2013 but only made three appearances for the Reds amidst loan spells with Bordeaux and Aston Villa before a permanent move to Reading in 2017.
He moved back to his original club at the start of last season.
Another player in Sporting's ranks is Bruno Fernandes.
The midfielder has been touted with a big-money move this summer and has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Liverpool.
He has scored in all three of Sporting's pre-season games so far and will be a real threat for Klopp's side to look out for.
