Rafa Camacho dismisses suggestions of falling out with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Rafa Camacho has dismissed suggestions of a falling out with Jurgen Klopp by describing the Liverpool boss as his “father in football”.

Camacho caused a stir earlier this week with comments made after scoring a hat-trick for the under-23 in their 6-0 Premier League 2 win at Leicester City on Sunday.

The 18-year-old posted a lengthy message on Instagram, part of which stated: "I'm not a right defender, I'm an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA.”

While Camacho has spent most of the season playing in attack for the U23s, he was handed his senior debut by Klopp at right-back in the FA Cup third round defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.

The Portuguese – who is out of contract at the end of next season – was in the position again a few weeks later when featuring as a late substitute for his Premier League bow in the home win over Crystal Palace.

Camacho's comments pointed to a possible disagreement with Klopp over his role at Liverpool.

But the teenager has used Instagram to clarify his relationship with the Reds boss.

“Jurgen Klopp is my father in football,” wrote Camacho. “Boss Jurgen bet on me and chose me to be part of his team.

“Boss Jurgen believed in me and launched me into the Premier League.

“Boss Jurgen will be a part of my life forever, because it was he who pitched me into the most competitive league in the world.

“Boss Jurgen will be unforgettable for me and my family. I believe in boss Jurgen, and I know he believes me, too.

“The boss knows better than anyone, that if he gives me an orientation on behalf of the team, I will give 200% for the boss, the team and the club. My gratitude for Klopp will be eternal.”
