Rafa Benitez to talk Newcastle exit alongside Jamie Carragher on Sky's Monday Night Football

Rafa Benitez will re-open the conversation about his Newcastle United exit as he appears on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football as a guest pundit alongside Jamie Carragher.

Benitez was due to appear on Sky in October of last year but ended up cancelling a potential appearance after Newcastle were beaten by Brighton.

But he will finally honour the invitation on Monday night as he appears ahead of the game between West Ham and Arsenal, two clubs who have been linked with a move for him in recent years.

Sky’s publicity drive for the appearance promises that he will “discuss the fall-out” of his Newcastle exit as well as their recent impressive form on the show. The ex-Newcastle manager has spoken extensively about his departure since leaving in June but with Carragher on the panel, there may well be fresh revelations from the former United boss.

Under his successor Steve Bruce Newcastle are nine points better off in the Premier League but attendances have dropped rapidly, revealing discontent from some at the club’s handling of his departure.

Benitez’s season is over in China after he guided Dalian Yifang to a 9th placed finish in the 16-team league. The show starts at 7pm on Sky Sports Premier League.
