Rafa Benitez to Celtic rumour addressed as Spanish football expert confirms 'false document'

Rafa Benitez is not looking to jump straight into another job according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss quit Chinese Super League club Dalian Pro on Saturday and was promptly linked with the Celtic role with Neil Lennon's position in doubt.

The Daily Mirror claimed Benitez was in the frame to be the next Parkhead boss while Betfair suspended bets as he became odds-on to be in the Hoops hotseat.

Balague admitted there was interest from Celtic but poured water over a potential move as Benitez looks to 'rest' following his stint in China.

There was also a false letter doing the rounds on social media claiming there was an agreement between the parties which Balague confirmed was fake.

He said: "Rafa Benitez to Celtic? There was interest in him but not an option today.

"He's going to rest for a bit, despite offers (from Germany, also a national side).

"By the way, about Celtic: there is a false document doing the rounds (check the phone number)."
