Rafa Benitez slammed for "causing chaos" at Everton as Jamie Redknapp names next manager

Jamie Redknapp insists Rafa Benitez must face the sack at Everton as he hit out at the manager for "causing chaos" at Goodison.

The Spaniard is on the verge of getting axed after the Toffees suffered a 2-1 defeat against Norwich City on Saturday.

There was a board meeting held later in the evening to discuss his future with claims he will be relieved of his duties by Monday as both parties work out a compensation package.

Benitez refused to take the blame for Everton's plight as he says he is trying to fix issues that have been behind the scenes for five year.

And Redknapp did not hold back when assessing his tenure as he called out the "politician" for pitting the fans against the board.

He said on Sky Sports: "Rafa has a habit of causing chaos at clubs. He's a politician, always blaming someone else, getting this person against that person.

"He creates an atmosphere with the crowd against the board everywhere he goes. I am convinced he's doing it again now.

"I don't see him lasting, I don't like that I am talking about a manager in his position, but I think he will be out tonight.

"He was never the right fit though. The fans aren't having him.

"Football fans, they genuinely want the best for the club, they want to win. Whoever is managing their team, they want them to win.

"But when you go to Norwich and play like that, he has to go."

Redknapp reckons Duncan Ferguson ould be the ideal person to step in on an interim basis to steady the ship.

The former Liverpool midfielder also believes Everton will seriously consider Wayne Rooney who has been impressing at Derby County, who have managed to climb off the bottom of the Championship table despite a 21 point deduction.

The pundit reckons if the Rams avoid relegation, it will be the "greatest escape of all time."

He added: "Duncan Ferguson is the person right now who is there, I think he would do a great job because he did a pretty good job when he was in charge on an interim basis last time.

"And then you can try and find the next manager. People are saying Wayne Rooney, the job he is doing at Derby right now is out of this world.

"The fact he has even got them in this position (to escape relegation) would be the greatest of all time. Whether he is the right fit I don't know but these are the sort of options they will be looking at. People talk about getting players in, it's hard to get managers in.

"They've gone from playing out the back to Sam Allardyce, they've gone through everything."

Benitez conceded that the decision to remain as Everton manager is "out of his hands" following the defeat to Dean Smith's side.

He said: “We are disappointed like the fans. We have to improve things on the pitch and with players coming back we have to make the right decisions.

“I am a professional and I have enough experience.

“I came here to fix issues that were coming from the last five years.

“What I have to do now is analyse the mistakes we are making and make sure we avoid them for the future. The rest is not in my hands.”
